I find that shocking, and though my knowledge of any of the products is very slight indeed, I don't doubt it at all. Since the Mac is suppose to be "the Computer for the rest of us" that is another reason for Macintosh developers to wake up. A third reason is that if Apple senses its developers are not moving along, it may well decide it needs to do some moving itself, perhaps through Claris. Genie Bulletin Board System Changes Billing GEnie has made a major change in billing which will make it less expensive for many current users and which could attract new users. Starting 1 October 1990 there will be a flat rate of $4.95 which will -- part contents for background part 10 ----- text ----- allow access to many services at no additional charge. That is, there will be no connect time charged for access to any of these: "Star" service areas. The $4.95 however will be a minimum monthly charge. Another change is that the 2400 Baud rate for other areas for which there are hourly rates will be reduced from $10.00 to $6.00 per hour. The "free" areas are not just a few specialized areas. They include some 90 different areas, for some of which there is currently not only the normal hourly connect-time rate, but there is also a surcharge. In addition to the GEnie administration area, some of the "free" areas are Grolier's Encyclopedia, 8 different news areas, the Easy Sabre travel section, a host of online shopping centers,
